A man identified by Israeli media as Yanis Yushvaev, 45, died after being shot in the head at close range when he left a establishment near a gas station in Caesarea, Israel.

The murder was recorded by security cameras. The footage shows the attacker approaching Yushvaev, who was accompanied by other men, and firing before fleeing the scene.

Local media reported that Yushvaev, a resident of Or Akiva, was known to Israeli authorities, who allegedly linked him to the so-called «Caucasian mafia», a criminal organization operating in Israel.

The Israeli Police classified the homicide as a criminal act and opened an investigation to locate the shooter and determine if others were involved in the planning or execution of the attack.

The security video shows a man wearing a sweatshirt and cap inside the establishment, while Yushvaev appears accompanied by at least two people before the attack.

In a matter of seconds, the suspect approaches, points the gun a few centimeters from Yushvaev’s head, and fires. The victim falls immediately, while his companions react and move away, noticing that the attacker remains armed.

The attacker later leaves the scene via some stairs. According to initial reports released by Israeli media, he would have escaped with possible accomplices in a vehicle, although the authorities continue to investigate the exact circumstances of the escape.

Emergency teams arrived at the scene and found Yushvaev with no vital signs and critical injuries. Paramedics performed the corresponding evaluation before confirming his death at the scene.

Police Investigate Possible Links

Yushvaev had publicly denied allegations about his alleged criminal ties and claimed to be simply a established businessman, so these claims must be distinguished from the suspicions attributed to investigators and local media.

Israeli press reports claim that he had previously been detained in investigations related to shootings, grenade attacks, and vehicle arson. However, these investigations did not result in convictions, a relevant factor to contextualize the allegations against him.

His most recent detention would have occurred in February at Ben Gurion Airport, after returning from Moscow. According to Channel 12, he was released a few days later, and the authorities faced difficulties in gathering sufficient evidence against him.

The investigation now focuses on identifying the perpetrator, locating possible accomplices, and establishing the motive. Until the authorities present official conclusions, any relationship between the murder and disputes within organized crime remains a line of investigation, noted El Heraldo de México.
