According to the outlet ContrapoderNews, a young Venezuelan identified as Jesús Carpio was killed in the state of Guárico just days after being deported from the United States.

The case was made public by the Club of Venezuelans in Florida, after the victim’s wife reported what had happened.

The attack occurred on Friday night in Tucupido, the capital of the José Félix Ribas municipality in the plains state of Guárico.

Why it matters: The case has drawn attention because it involves a Venezuelan deported from the U.S. killed shortly after returning to his community, highlighting ongoing concerns about safety in parts of the country.

According to reports, two armed men arrived in the Tucupido area on a motorcycle.

The attackers were reportedly carrying rifles when they entered a house located on the main street of the Soco 1 sector.

Once inside the residence, they opened fire on Jesús Carpio and his father.

Witnesses said the attackers fired multiple times without saying a word to the two men.

After the shooting, relatives and neighbors quickly transported the victims to Dr. Pedro del Corral Hospital in the same town.

Carpio arrived at the hospital with severe injuries.

Shortly after being admitted, doctors confirmed his death due to the seriousness of his wounds, making him another tragic case of a Venezuelan deported from the U.S. killed after returning home.

His father, José Alejandro Carpio Matos, was also wounded in the attack.

He suffered a gunshot wound to his right upper limb.

Initially treated at the same hospital, he was later transferred to Dr. Rafael Zamora Arévalo Hospital in Valle de la Pascua.

According to medical reports, he was stable and out of danger.

Family Says Attackers Came to Collect an Extortion Payment

According to the family, the attackers allegedly arrived intending to collect a “vacuna,” a term commonly used to describe extortion payments demanded by criminal groups.

Based on that account, the armed men opened fire inside the home during an attempt to intimidate the family.

The attack occurred only days after Carpio returned to his hometown in Guárico.

The young man had arrived in Venezuela the Monday of the previous week.

After entering the country, he was released by immigration authorities the following day.

He later traveled to his hometown on Thursday.

Witnesses said the attackers burst into the home and shot repeatedly at the victims.

Authorities have launched an investigation to clarify the events and identify those responsible for the killing of the Venezuelan deported from the U.S. killed in Guárico.

Recent Deportation and Immigration Background

The victim’s wife explained that the family had previously emigrated due to security problems in their community.

According to her account, Jesús Carpio was detained in Central Florida following a traffic stop.

He was later transferred into custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Carpio reportedly remained in immigration detention for about a month before receiving a deportation order.

His wife stated that he held Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and had a pending asylum application.

She also said the family paid the bond set by a judge in Florida.

However, despite paying the bond, Carpio was handed over to federal immigration authorities and later deported.

The case of the Venezuelan deported from the U.S. killed was shared by the Club of Venezuelans in Florida after the organization received testimony from the victim’s family.

According to local reports, Carpio had been back in Venezuela for only a few days after his deportation from the United States when the fatal attack occurred.
