The death of actor Stewart McLean has shocked fans of series such as Virgin River and Arrow after Canadian authorities confirmed the discovery of his remains in British Columbia.
The 45-year-old performer had been reported missing days earlier, after family members and acquaintances lost contact with him on May 15.
The confirmation was made by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, or IHIT, which reported that the remains were found in the Lions Bay area.
The news gained greater attention because authorities had already publicly warned that there were indications pointing to a possible homicide.
Authorities Reconstruct Stewart McLean’s Final Hours

According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, or RCMP, McLean’s disappearance was officially reported on May 18 by the Squamish division.
Since then, investigators began tracking movements, witness statements, and security footage related to the actor’s final days.

“As the investigation progresses, officers are gathering and analyzing evidence, reviewing security camera footage, and conducting interviews,” said Corporal Esther Tupper of IHIT.
The officer added that the goal is to “reconstruct the timeline of Mr. McLean’s activities before May 15, 2026.”
Investigation Continues as Questions Grow
Authorities said they continue to follow all available leads to clarify what happened and provide answers to Stewart McLean’s family.
Although the case remains under investigation, officers indicated that, so far, they believe it was an “isolated incident.”
The discovery of the remains occurred just one day after police made public the possibility that McLean may have been the victim of a violent crime.
For now, no suspects or additional details have been released about the circumstances in which the body was found.
Colleagues and Agency Say Goodbye to Stewart McLean
After Stewart McLean’s death was confirmed, Lucas Talent Inc. posted an emotional message in memory of the actor through representative Jodi Caplan.
“With great sadness, we say goodbye to our dear client, Stew McLean. I was fortunate to work with him for more than 10 years,” she wrote.
“He was always an absolute pleasure to work with: dedicated, professional, enthusiastic, and with an endless sense of humor,” the agent added.
Caplan also revealed that numerous casting directors sent condolence messages highlighting the actor’s human qualities.
