NYPD analyzes recovered devices

According to the New York City Police Department, the suspicious devices were removed from Gracie Mansion.

They were later transported to a secure area in the Bronx.

There they will be examined by specialists.

After the analysis, the devices will be safely destroyed in a controlled process.

Authorities also denied initial reports about the nature of the objects.

The newspaper New York Post had reported that they might be “nail bombs.”

The NYPD clarified that this information was incorrect.

Investigators continue to analyze the recovered devices.

Their goal is to determine exactly what type of devices they were and whether they posed a real threat.

Anti-Muslim protest ends with arrests

The protest that took place outside the mayor’s residence had an anti-Muslim message.

The event was led by far-right activist Jake Lang.

The demonstration coincided with a counter-protest.

That second group gathered to express support for the Islamic community.

The context was particularly sensitive because the counter-protest took place during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Several incidents were reported throughout the day.

In total, six people were arrested by police.

Two of them were detained for allegedly throwing the suspicious objects.

The other four were arrested for incidents that occurred during the anti-Muslim protest.

So far, authorities have not confirmed which organization the suspects belong to.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani has not confirmed whether he was inside the residence at the time.

It has also not been reported whether the first lady, Rama Duwaji, was present.

Mamdani is the first Muslim mayor in New York City’s history.

Authorities continue to evaluate the incident that occurred outside the official residence.
