Daycare explains how the child was discovered

Leslie Novoa, owner of A World of Discovery Academy, told WSVN-TV that the child’s father arrived at the daycare to pick up his son.

According to Novoa, after parking outside the facility, he realized the child was still in the back seat of the vehicle.

«Unfortunately, the father arrived to pick up his son, and when he got to the parking lot, he realized he had forgotten him,» Novoa said.

«He never dropped the child off at school,» she added while describing what happened.

Family of the child found dead was well known in the school community

Novoa said the family had been part of the daycare community for several years.

She explained that the toddler was the third child from the family to attend the daycare.

«They are a very loving family, and unfortunately, this happened,» the daycare owner said.

Her comments reflected the deep impact the tragedy has had on the staff and others who knew the family.

Investigation continues

Following the discovery, investigators remained at the parking lot for several hours collecting evidence.

According to reports from WSVN-TV, authorities erected a tent around the SUV while forensic investigators processed the scene.
