The Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) confirmed that the body of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, identified as “El Mencho,” has been formally requested by his family’s legal representative.

The announcement comes days after the operation in Jalisco in which the leader of the Cártel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) was killed—an event that also led to new arrests and ongoing judicial proceedings.

“Regarding the status of the body of Rubén ‘N,’ the FGR notes that it received a document submitted by an individual who identified himself as the legal representative of the deceased’s relatives, requesting the delivery of his mortal remains. The federal prosecutor is completing all necessary procedural steps to formalize their release,” the agency said in a brief statement.

Authorities clarified that the Public Prosecutor’s Office is carrying out the required protocols before officially handing over the remains.

The statement was issued while members of the National Guard maintained security at the facilities of the Fiscalía Especializada en Materia de Delincuencia Organizada (FEMDO) in Mexico City.

Alleged CJNG Members Transferred to Altiplano

In parallel, legal proceedings are advancing against two men identified as alleged CJNG members. Early Wednesday morning, Gerardo “N” and Andrés “N” were transferred from FEMDO facilities to the Federal Social Readaptation Center No. 1 in Almoloya de Juárez, known as the Altiplano prison.

Both were detained on Sunday during the same operation in which members of the Security Cabinet killed Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes.

The FGR charged them with organized crime and illegal possession of firearms.

Defendants Declare Innocence Before Federal Judge

A day before their transfer, the defendants appeared before Alejandra Ramírez de la Vega, a federal control judge based at the Altiplano facility.

The hearing was conducted via videoconference from FEMDO headquarters.

During their statements, the alleged CJNG members denied belonging to the criminal cell in question.

They declared themselves innocent and claimed they had been mistaken for members of the organization.

They also requested that the Federal Public Prosecutor conduct fingerprint and sodium rhodizonate tests to prove they had not fired weapons.

After hearing their statements, prosecutors requested that the hearing continue in private.

FGR Secures Pretrial Detention as Investigation Continues

The FGR reported that, as part of the investigation into the events in Tapalpa, the Federal Public Prosecutor assigned to FEMDO formally charged Andrés “N” and Genaro “N.”

According to the institution, both were detained for their alleged involvement in aggravated firearm possession and possession of attachments and magazines reserved for the armed forces.

Finally, the FGR reiterated that the individuals are presumed innocent until a final conviction is issued by a competent judicial authority.
